Dear user of the Political Archive,
As most restrictions caused by the Covid 19 pandemic have been lifted, unlimited access to the reading room of the Political Archive and the use of all of its 25 workstations are now possible. However, the wearing of a FFP-mask provided by the users is still mandatory.
Online research in our finding aids and viewing scanned files with Invenio, an application provided by the Federal Archives, is still possible both from your home and on the road. However, searches and file orders are also possible via the re-released terminals in the reading room.
We are very grateful that the Federal Archives made it possible for us to use this application. However, please note that an inter-archive research is not possible and separate registrations are required. With the introduction of invenio In some cases changes in the designation of our record groups became necessary due to technical and organisational reasons.
A personal visit to the reading room of the Political Archive is only possible on the basis of a prior written permission for use and after reservation of a workstation.
The reading room is open continuously:
Monday - Thursday 8.30 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. and
Friday 8.30 am - 3.00 pm
Up to 40 files can be pre-ordered via Invenio. 20 files are presented per day.
Orders are accepted twice a day. Files ordered before 10 a.m. are made available in the reading room at 2 p.m. on the same day, files ordered before 2 p.m. are made available the following day when the reading room opens.
Unfortunately, it cannot be ruled out that if the situation regarding Covid19 worsens, it will be necessary to restrict use again. Any change due to the current COVID-19 situation will be announced on our website. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
